I was representing myself pro se against a major NYC law firm. He never responded to my motions or request to meet or have the defendants provide evidence. But he would have his law clerk jump to schedule meeting & other answer request from the law firm (defendants). Yelled at me once for asking if I could say something in court. Horrible Judge.

I have had several cases in front of Magistrate Gorenstein over the years. He is fair, smart, even handed and involved. He is not warm and fuzzy but he is by no means nasty or mean. He is respectful and courteous to the lawyers and respectful of their schedules. I have enjoyed appearing before him.

I appeared today before Magistrate Gorenstein for the first time on a serious personal injury matter that was before the Court based on diversity jurisdiction. Magistrate Gorenstein was well versed in the issues, had clearly read our submissions and did an exemplary job in bringing the case to a swift and fair conclusion. He was generous with his time and fair to both sides. His style was to take control and it worked well. He conferenced separately with both sides and gave us each an opportunity to discuss our respective positions without showing any wisp of partiality. Without his input, this case never gets resolved. I thank him and hope to have the opportunity to be in his courtroom again in the near future

Methodical, thorough, and detail oriented. His decisions are based on facts. He sticks to his decisions and holds counsel to deadlines. A no-nonsense judge who does his job well! Exactly the kind of judge you want if you have a good case.

One of the most professional Judges I have ever encountered. Smart, respectful and efficient. He'll listen to every argument but has no trouble making up his own mind and sticking to it. Make sure you know the rules and don't try to abuse his courtesy.

Alaba Oluyomi v. Janet Napolitano-Govt *Granted judgment in favor of Govt despite refusal of the Govt. to comply with discovery request. *Explained away the legal standard, that is, showing pretext in job discrimination cases. *Suppressed and ignored strong evidence of the pro se plaintiff--Alaba Oluyomi, and promoted mere statements (lies, lies) fabricated by the Govt, lacking evidence in the record. *Condescending during a court conference to a pro se litigant. *Granted judgment in favor of Govt despite strong evidence in the record showing the Govt provided multiple false testimonies under oath, under the penalty of perjury. Committed multiple legal errors prejudicial to the outcome of the case. Unfairly dismissed a civil case.

I used to work with this judge. He's extremely bright, thorough, professional, courteous and industrious. He belongs on the Second Circuit, in the place of a number of judges there (that don't belong).

Somewhat stiff and formal; not very warm but smart and effective. Manages discovery well; does not tolerate BS but gives yout time if you need it. He took a very proactive role in a settlement conference in one case and got a real settlement, i.e. case settled but no one walked away happy.
