If you are pro se do not think she will read your papers or any proof you put before the court. Do not think she respects pro se litigants who appear before her. She knows the law. there is no doubt. She is also pleasant

Carol Amon knows what she's doing and is an excellent judge. She also knows how to frankly discuss settlement issues.

Somewhat imperious and often downright impolite, but on balance bright and fair.

An intelligent, fair, hard-working and attractive jurist, Judge Amon is one of the finest stewards of the courtroom and trial processes. Her rulings are even handed, grounded in a keen understanding of the law and rooted in a quintessential sense of fairness. A gem among judges. Now, if she could only learn to look as if she actually enjoys her job.

Good trial judge - no nonsense tolerated. A little too tough about moving cases along rather than accommodating the complex lives of trial lawyers.

Hands down one of the best judges in the Eastern District. She was extremely well-prepared and impartial. If I had every case in front of her my life would be so much easier!

I just completed a three-week criminal trial in front of her. The government sure gets its value out of federal judges - and this one in particular. The jury worked from 9:30-5:30 nearly every day (sometimes beginning at 9:00 am) with limited breaks. Most days we stayed past seven dealing with trial issues. She rarely let the jury sit idly in the jury room and created a fast-paced trial with no downtime. She's stoic while on the bench and maintains a tight grip on the course of the trial. Substantively, she bent over backwards to be fair to both the government and to the defense (although the government griped about some of her rulings precluding introduction of certain evidence). Appellate counsel will be hard pressed to find one solitary issue with her trial rulings. She's helpful and understanding to the attorneys and never demeaning. She pays close attention to every bit of testimony and every scrap of evidence and, at times, I felt like she was a 13th juror sitting up there.

As a plaintiff's attorney in an ADEA ase, I practiced before her when she was a magistrate judge, and thought she was smart, pleasant, and very engaged in settlement talks. I subsequently appeared before her as a district judge, and my initial impression did not change.

Minimally prepared, bad mood but not too rude. She just wants to get rid of cases so her work load goes down: move to dismiss anything, you never know.
