Expensive mistake. Tries to force unfair settlement against emotionally week party. At 9:00 pm after 12 hours added new conditions to a proposed settlement. Claimed too have knowledge of real property law but didn’t understand easements. Other party was a retired appeals court justice. Displayed obvious favoritism. I’m retired after more than 40 years practice and never experienced a poorer arbitrator.

More and more, i am hearing from practitioners that he is racist and a “good ol’ boy.” Truth be told, he is. He treats diverse lawyers and women horribly. He asks us if we know how to “practice law in America” even if we are experienced and well-regarded. Many of us suffer the most if we are not local practitioners. And if we are women and/or diverse. It’s humiliating and he evidences the worse of our profession. We are watching him and will file complaints as necessary once our matters are over. His career dies on this bench and if he tries to become an arbitrator or mediator we will ensure he never gets our business. He also lacks humility and always must be the smartest person on the bench. If you are a woman or person of color, bring your blue-eyed partner to stand next to you and who has practiced before him. He will rib and joke just like a frat boy — a la Kavanaugh (makes us women and diverse lawyers nauseous). Be aware that you are practicing before a former frat boy. That is his reputation and even his own current and former colleagues warn us of the same.

Pompous and thoughtless. If he had 1/10 the legal brilliance he thinks he has, it might perhaps be worth it to tolerate his attitude. Unfortunately, he thinks he's a genius, and cannot handle any questioning of his thoughts and analysis. He is nasty, and his treatment of counsel is beneath the dignity of the Court. He does not listen to replies at oral argument, and doesn't particularly seem to care what counsel say in response to his comments and questions, but only asks questions to see if counsel will tell him whatever it is he wants to hear. Other than that, great Judge.

I have tried and litigated numerous cases and found him to be abusive, lacking in judicial demeanor, racist and also sexist. His comments are only to satisfy his own ego as we know he has a fragile one given his own medicre legal career where he has few clients (as told to me by others). I will be looking into filing a complaint about him as soon as my matter isn’t over.

As has been said below, he's never met a government defendant he didn't like. So if you draw him and are suing the US, abandon all hope. You can't paper these federal judges, so I suppose a site like this really only foretells the trouble you'll have once you draw a bad federal judge.

The judge saw things our way on nearly every motion and merits decision while our case was pending before him. But he still berated us repeatedly and accused us of wasting his time. I would give him a '0' in Judicial temperament if I could.

He is smart, conservative and pro-business. He has common sense. He can be tough when needed but is courteous.

He needs to recognize that a Defendant is innocent and release the Defendant. Once the Defendant has proven, with court documents, that he is innocent, it is time to release the Defendant and let justice be served.

Intelligent, empathetic, hard-working, but still finding his way. Indecisive. Many babies are split.
