Horrible experience with this Judge. I actually had to have a drink each evening after dealing with him. And I am not much of a drinker! Thankfully he was reversed on appeal for both lawsuits he presided over. He was mean, and ornery with counsel and he confused witnesses titles and testimony. It was an awful experience. A perfect example of why term limits should be imposed to Federal Courts.

This guy is in his 90s and still committing judicial malpractice. He was so bad, after attending one hearing before him my plaintiff opponent offered to dismiss his case and stipulate to binding arbitration so that we could be rid of this clown. I gladly took him up on his offer.

I had a case before Judge Real that involved special education / civil rights. He made a ridiculous ruling that had no basis in the law or facts. Just reading the Order there were inconsistencies showing his errors, and lack of legal reasoning. He does NOT want to hear any argument from you. He asks if you have anything to say BEFORE he makes his ruling. Then after he rules against you, when you try to argue he says you had your chance already. You have to be pushy to say what you need to say to support your record. Mind your record, because the only thing good about this guy is he is sloppy enough to give you grounds to appeal. I got a decision of his reversed by the 9th Cir. in late 2015. I am sure its just one of many of his decision that year that were reversed.

Jekyll and Hyde. A bully in court room. A charming host in chambers, where he removed his robe, sat next to the lawyers, and discussed our case with us respectfully. I appreciated his zero tolerance for b.s., but his incivility to lawyers and litigants makes the atmosphere in his court room so uncomfortable.

Will not even listen to my case, 'until both sides submit all their paperwork'. Defendant side will never submit their paperwork because they do not want this case ruled on. So Judge Manuel Real statement has helped delay my case,

Need help. I am/have been on the receiving end of Judge Real's judicial misconduct and abuse of process rulings and orders. Currently before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Pro Se on a case which is on track to possibly put this Judge off the bench. In need of an experienced and motivated attorney, who is not afraid to take action against Judge Real et al and do what needs to be done, to represent my case. If you are ready to take on this embarrassment to the legal justice system and the legal profession, please contact me right away. June 13, 2015

Judge Real is a 'bully', he retaliate against litigants and time with attorneys specially the Pro Se who, despite demonstration of good faith and compliance with the court orders, are frequently bullied to advance a court agenda. In some cases, to 'FIX' a case, to obstruct justice, to retaliate against a litigant or disfavored party. Judge Real doesn't follow the rules of civil procedure of the law, he shouldn't be allowed to remain on the bench.

He's still there???? I still shudder at the way in 1970 he ruined a friend's life by sentencing him to 10 years at Terminal Island for a minor drug possession offense. A vengeful sentence considering the options. Well, my friend did come from a privileged background -- that could have motivated this judge given his own background. Not much jurisprudence involved, that's for sure. Years later I wondered, who was Real? What else did he go on to do? From what I find online now he's been cruel and less than just to many and not very honest either. My friend became a heroin addict while in prison. Who but guards could have supplied (sold) the drugs? Not the shock to people now that such things were then. We know enough now to guess how cell phones get in to Pelican Island But in 1970, it was probably not unknown to someone in Judge Real's position just what he was doing to a 24 year old with no idea of the criminal justice system. A fine blow for Nixon's just initiated war on drugs. Have we won it yet? Why not?
