I would give Ludington a ZERO if that were an option. Ludington's ruling on the cell phone ban is unconstitutional and he should be disbarred. Not because of the cell phone issue but because he included all electronic recording devices at the same time. Ludington's ruling essentially bans the 1st amendment from Michigan courts and this is a federal crime under Title 18 U.S.C. ยงยง 241 & 242. but... he already knows this... Ludington's ruling is the OBSTRUCTION of justice.

I have read the other comments about Judge Ludington, and I can only conclude that I must have had his evil twin. He decided early on, before he had seen any evidence or heard any testimony other than the ranting of opposing counsel, what resolution would adhere in the case. As evidence piled up that his preferred solution was not only not legal, but not logical or even possible, he became petulant. At the end of the case, he simply refused to rule, allowing deadlines for discovery and dispositive motions to pass without action. By the time that seven motions had piled up and six months had passed since the last time we even heard from the judge, we asked Judge Rosen to intervene. Judge Rosen gently prodded Judge Ludington with regard to our case, and we received an e-mail that our seven stuck motions would be 'moved up in priority.' Two months more of silence and we finally got a judgment. A non-judgment, really, as none of the issues at hand were addressed, and nothing was resolved. We now face as much as three more years of litigation (yes, our < $100k case took almost three years). The good news is that it will be in another district with a better appeals court above it, a district with a reputation for judges who work and provide rulings that resolve things. Glory hallelujah! No more Judge Ludington!

Smart, even-tempered judge who digs into cases and backs up his opinions with strong scholarship and in-depth knowledge of the facts of the case. Appears to be unbiased and seeks to achieve the correct result.

Judge Ludington is a self serving politician who will sell his own mother out for an opportunity to climb the judicial ladder.

Judge Ludington is one of the most judicial, professional and evenhanded jurists I have encountered in the last several years. I appreciate his patience, his scholar and his decorum in the courtroom.
