OK on the law. But leaves much to be desired as a trial judge. She'll just hazzle you through trial. She's vigilant (does not sleep on the bench) but thinks all jurors are equally vigilant so forget about trial tactics or communication essences ('just ask your important questions' is her motto).

A self contradiction. When she is good she is very, very good. When not....And unfortunately she is too often not. My most recent experience had her taking more than nine months to decide a case where she basically rubber stamped another opinion with no independent analysis. A great disappointment for she is capable of much more.

Her temperment was an abomination and her knowledge of the law was lacking. She failed to timely address critical legal issues impacting the trial and she kept flip flopping on her prior rulings.

Outstanding trial judge. Courteous and fair and her court is a pleasure to work with logistically. Again, tough but very fair.

Judge Wood is unfailingly pleasant, courteous and respectful to counsel and to the defendant. She listens carefully to the arguments of counsel and strives to do justice. I think, however, that over the years her tilt has become increasingly pro-government. She has become a harsh sentencer, and tends to favor the government on disputed issues of fact and law. Still, you could do a lot worse.

She handed down a very fair sentence to an 87-year old Organized Crime member. Listened to all the arguments, went through all the Guideline analysis and came down with something everybody -- including the government -- could live with.

A good judge who has been around and knows how to tell the difference between a silk purse and a sow's ear. Not afraid to do the right thing.
