I agree with the comments that he is erratic and unpredictable, tends to pick sides, and often is not particularly civil to lawyers. He is reasonably intelligent, though as also noted, not always listening. He seems to like to present a 'tough guy' image. Not the least qualified judge on this bench, but overall pretty mediocre.
