I was very impressed by Judge Carter when I was litigating a case before the EDNY. He was even-handed and did not appear to side with either the plaintiff or the defendant. He gave the parties a level playing field, which is surprisingly refreshing despite the fact that this is supposed to be a judge's stated role. As an employment plaintiff's attorney in the SDNY, I find I am often 'swimming against the current' with many judges who seem to strongly favor the corporate defendants. Not with Judge Carter. He was a much needed addition to the SDNY bench. Good job President Obama.
