Very pro-defense, to the point of being unfair to the prosecutor, every chance he gets. Case in point was his most recent sentencing of Edward Vrdolyak. The prosecutor never had a chance to make a point, before he got bashed by 'King Milton.' The only guy in court who didn't think Vrdolyak would do jail time was Judge Shadur. Even 'Fast Eddie' was surprised when he got off! Judge Shadur is no friend to prosecutors and uses logic that no reasonable man would ever think of -- not because he's smart, but because he's just illogical, old and bull-headed. Prosecutors beware!
