I know I will get a fair chance when MJ Homer is assigned. He works hard, knows the law and shows respect for all attorneys, regardless of side. He also has incredible empathy and patience with pro se litigants. His office is always open to assist in discovery issues and settlement conferences. He is a bit unaccommodating on extensions -even when agreed upon by both sides. Also, when he gets mad, watch out. Fortunately, he has a very long fuse. If you raise his ire, you know you bought it. There was an earlier comment on his eyesight, to which I feel compelled to respond. Judge Homer is not in any manner bitter. He recognizes his visual limitations and voluntarily makes them clear to litigants. I am a big supporter of MJ Homer's reappointment as Magistrate. He is a clear benefit to all litigants in the NDNY.
