I have Judge Kim as my magistrate in three cases right now. I work for a public entity doing employment litigation defense, but I believe very strongly in civil rights. I believe he is a fair, respectful, and open-minded person. I think he reads (carefully) all the items that are submitted to him and does not hesitate to each out if he needs additional information. I also just believe that he is fair; I don't view him as biased towards one side or the other. I believe he will give me a fair shake. Recently, I had a motion in front of him and my opposing counsel was taking all kinds of unreasonable positions in what he wanted in discovery, but would not turn over reasonable documentation about his clients and their claims. My opposing counsel was also extremely condescending towards me (a younger female attorney). Judge Kim granted most of our requests and not my opposing counsel's requests; however, even if I had lost, he still treated me with respect, had a no bullshit attitude towards my opposing counsel, and I believed it changed the tone of our interactions going forward.
