I recognize the comments (and perception) that Judge Forrest is a harsh sentencing judge. This may perhaps be true in white collar cases. In other cases, though, Judge Forrest is fair and reasonable. She does not seek to impose excessive punishment on those who come from underprivileged or difficult upbringings and were unable to escape the negative pull of their surroundings. Instead, she looks for the good in those people, encourages them to turn their lives around, and seems genuinely understanding of the mitigating circumstances and hardships in their lives.
