I was recently a character witness at a trial in Judge LaPlante's court. I was taken by this judge's patience, his humane treatment of everyone (defendant, witnesses, lawyers) in his courtroom, his meticulous approach to the process and his lack of ego. Judge Joseph LaPlante is, in my view, 'one of the ones.'
