Magistrate Judge Nolan is open-minded, gracious, independent, fair, smart, and has common sense. She moves a case well without being pushy and can be counted on to follow the law. After many decades of practicing in the Northern District, I rate her one of the very best. She should be a District Judge or be sitting on the Seventh Circuit, but in a way that would be a loss to any accused who can enjoy the promise of getting a fair shake, something that often is not to be expected of so many of her pro-government peers. It's always a pleasure to practice before her. She has my genuine respect - a highly courageous jurist!
