Judge Muir has been on senior status for years now and I think recently stopped taking cases altogether. He was on the bench for decades and I had the honor of appearing in front of him numerous times. He was courteous to everyone in his courtroom and incredibly smart....a steel trap mind well into his 90's. He had rigorous expectations of attorneys appearing in front of him. He was methodically, surgically even-handed and fair. He didn't hesitate to pause during a trial to review a procedural or evidentiary rule. He was devoted to getting things as right as humanly possible. Although I'm sure he had his own views on the cases that came before him, he never exposed a whit of that to anyone else. He was everything a judge should be.
