I found District Judge McBryde to be rude and condescending to not only the attorneys, and witness’, but almost everyone in the court room. The judge’s rude, narcissistic, and superior attitude towards everyone in the court room was completely unprovoked and exemplified the judge’s inability to relate and empathize with others. At one point during sentencing he insulted the friends and family members of the defendant by telling them he knew more about the defendant in a 2 day trial than anyone else. The judge’s outburst was triggered by the judge getting flooded with letters in support of the defendant as being a good person who made a big mistake. The judge said the supportive letters from friends and family are only evidence the defendant was a ‘con man’ and assumes his friends and family can’t read people like he can. Needless to say the sentencing was over and above the maximum legal recommendation for this type of first time conviction. 10 years for 1 conviction of wire fraud is absurd! The good news to the people of the Northern District of Texas is that this judge was born in 1931.
