Judge Hanks was assigned to mediate a complex trade dress infringement case in which I represented one of the parties. While the case did not settle at mediation the parties later entered into a confidential settlement agreement before trial using the framework that Judge Hanks helped develope. Judge Hanks treated the parties with respect during the mediation, was quick to understand the complicated issues and was very insightful in helping the parties understand the strengths and weaknesses of their respective cases. He was very dilgent as he worked with the parties for approximately 10 hours before concluding the mediation. Although this was my first experience with Judge Hanks I found him to be one of the finest judges I have had the opportunity to appear before in my 32 year career. I consider it a privilege to have worked with him.
