Judge Burrell is often criticized for being gruff to litigants. My experince is that his gruffness is directly related to the amount of preparation the attorney does to advance the case along. Judge Burrell and all of the other jduges on the Eastern District bench are very busy and want attorneys to be prepared to help move cases along. if you are not prpared, Judge burrell will make his displeasure known to you. WOuld take Judge Burrell over most of the newest appointments (except for Muller) for any case.
