One of the best if not the best judge on the bench. Certainly the best in San Jose. He is fair, compassionate, and not afraid to make very strong rulings in new areas. There was a case in Santa Cruz where the defendant was being tried for a pot bust. The snitch was such a lying dog (as were the agents who controlled him) that the AUSA allowed a 4 year max telephone count. Because of the vile conduct of the snitch, Judge Fogel sentenced the defendant to 6 months halfway house and 6 months home arrest.
