If he's friendly with the lawyer on the other side, you're screwed. He may be bright enough, but he is lazy and/or he doesn't use his law clerks like most federal judges to, e.g, review the summary judgment record, prepare bench memos so that he knows what's going on, etc. Also, he's willing to ignore pretty clear law when it's inconvenient.

I think very highly of Judge Pisano, but, to be fully candid, I won on both of the motions I argued before him. He was well prepared and understood the issues clearly. Generally speaking, my experiences in federal court are very positive.

Does what he wants regardless of clearly established law, as long as he believes he can get away with it. Doesn''t write opinions on substantive motions when he knows he''s wrong or could be wrong.

Despite the fact that he ruled against us, I found him to be extremely intelligent, fair and well-prepared. Very down to earth.

Lazy, lightweight. Good Magistrate, never should have been promoted. Failed to read Court papers, but ruled anyway. Even handed, as long as he doesn't know one of the counsel. If he's friendly with one counsel, opponent is doomed.

Not a heavy lifter, intellectually. Protective of incompetent magistrate in my case who utterly mismanaged litigation. A nice enough guy but never grew beyond 'good magistrate.'

enforces orders selectively, depending if he knows the attorneys.
