A by-the-book judge, Judge Cleland is reasonably even-handed in civil litigation; gives both sides ample opportunity to make their case; and issues opinions that are generally well-supported by authority.

This guy sentenced me for crimes I was never charged with, tried on or convicted of and f-ed me. Then refused to fix it. He is horrible and has no respect for the law it defendants rights. May as well be a us atty on the bench if your not a rat.

This man is a right wing conservative to the max. Plaintiffs stand ZERO chance in front of him in a bench trial so you'd better go with a jury, though he will bogart the case from a jury. If you face sentencing you WILL get the max. It's why his colleagues at USDC call him 'Maximum Bob.' He's actually a decent guy away fronm the bench--very courteous, almost Jimmy Stewart-like, though Stewart had some charisma, whereas Bob is stodgy. Not a bad guy, just no compassion at all.

I do not consider my FOIA rights to be frivolous. Today, we refer to the Judge as Honorable. However, a computer is capable of making a decision based on facts without the temper and attitude problem. We never refer to the computer as Honorable Computer and the judge as Frivolous Judge.

In a district with a heavy caseload, this judge is amazingly impressive. Issues thorough opinions on dispositive motions soon after they are set for argument. Not the type of judge who leaves dispositive motions hanging until the eve of trial; wish all judges followed this practice.

Typical right-wing appointee. A rubber stamp for the U.S. Attorney. Hands down sentences on the severe side and isn't too interested in mitigating factors. A classic 'hanging judge.'

Outstanding grasp of complex legal issues; uncommonly high intellect, capable of quickly grasping technical factual matters. Even-keeled and very fair. Fair with extraordinary demeanor.

Extremly fair in all of his decisions. He was a master of the court room. It was most impresive to watch this man work. I have found a new respect for the law. All judges should have this type of competence.

He begins civil trials by telling the jury 'you and I are going to decide this case' and then he controls the courtroom like Stalag 17, and runs the jury like he owns them. And he does.
