No nonsense. Smart. Liberal on Discovery. Big fan, great judge.

One of the better judges in the Northern District, though generally fair, he cherry-picks facts to render summary judgment when ever he can, especially for a governmental entity or officer. You could do much, much worse at 219.

Solid, all around, no nonsense judge. Cool demeanor on the bench. As others have stated, not shaken in the least by the shenanigans of counsel in civil cases. If you are right on the law, the other side is in trouble, big trouble. He's not swayed by sob stories. Find the law, knows it, and applies it.

a fine journeyman district judge; very matter-of-factly proceeds through case pretty much unfazed by parties' gyrations. doesn't get diverted by defendants' efforts to evade discovery. makes people produce, doesn't permit antics.

Harry D. is a good judge. Don't let the fact that he is a die hard republican, Reagan appointee, and husband to former labor secretary Lynn Martin fool you. His politics do not interfere with his judicial decisionmaking and he is actually competent. He was in private practice in Joliet, IL years ago and tried a whole lot of cases. He rules in favor of plaintiffs when the facts and the law are on their side, and vice versa. I have always been amazed by his fairness to parties.
