Very scholarly; extremely practical judge. Impressed that he actually read your submissions, so at argument you don't have to start from scratch talking about the case. Rarely uses a magistrate in civil matters; likes to handle things himself

Comes from a blue-chip plaintiffs' firm, but pretty evenhanded on the bench. Did a good job in a bench trial of a maritime collision case.

Very unfair in criminal litigation. One day he too will meet his maker and have to answer for his actions. He'll have an eternity to think about the pain and injustice he has inflicted upon others.
