A fair, impartial, capable judge. On the negative side, he allows no voir dire by attorneys and does little himself, he will stick stubbornly by a trial ruling after it is shown wrong, and he goes overboard with his focus on making the trains run on time. Also, his motion rulings come a bit slower than one might wish. On the positive side, he will not enter an improper summary judgment to save himself a trial. He is calm and patient. He seriously struggles to get the law right even if he does not like the result. He takes his oath seriously. He will set a trial for a date certain when warranted. With Mickle, your work actually pays off. For many judges the outcome is pre-ordained. For him, it really is a matter of what the facts and the law are.
